Les White – Associate

Les is a proven senior communications, media and politics professional. He has broad-reaching experience in brand building and management, crisis management and media, stakeholder management, relationship development and maintenance, internal communications and negotiation with key stakeholders. He was a key adviser to three senior Ministers across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland working in the most complex multi-stakeholder environments in Australia.

Les has nearly 20 years' professional experience across media and both state and federal government, particularly around agriculture, environment, energy, water, communications and health. Les worked as a journalist for both Fairfax and News Ltd, spending three years in the Canberra Press Gallery as the sole National Affairs and Federal Politics writer for the Weekly Times.

Since then, Les headed the media team for the Deputy Premier of Victoria before being Deputy Chief of Staff to two senior federal Cabinet Ministers, across wide-ranging portfolio areas including agriculture, water, drought, health, communications and regional development. During that time he was a key driver and adviser on policy initiatives including around drugs and alcohol, regional funding, regional communications and diversification of farm income through measures such as payments for biodiversity on farm, or ecosystem services. He also takes a keen interest in social licence.

Les delivers more than a decade of Ministerial access in Canberra stretching across political divides, supplemented by an extensive corporate and media network. He is currently a member of the Charles Sturt University Strategic Advisory Committee.
